Genocide by killing members of a group as part of a joint criminal enterprise with the aim of forcibly transferring around 40 thousand civilians from the UN Safe Area of Srebrenica and executing more than 7,000 Bosniaks (aiding and abetting)
Factual basis:
Željko Ivanović was found guilty of participating in the search of villages around Potočari with the aim of expelling Bosniaks to the territories controlled by the Army of RBiH. On 13 July 1995 he participated in securing the road from Srebrenica, to facilitate the transport of the Bosniak population by trucks and buses. In particular, he opened and closed the road for traffic, and thus contributed to the execution of the plan to forcibly transfer Bosniak people. Furthermore, on the same day, he participated in the capture of thousands of Bosniak men who were trying to escape from the UN Safe Area. He also participated in escorting a group of over 1000 captured Bosniaks from the village of Sandići to the Kravica warehouse, knowing that they would be executed. After forcing the captured Bosniaks into the warehouse, members of the 2nd Detachment started to kill the captives by firing from automatic weapons and by throwing hand grenades. Ivanović stood at the back of the warehouse building, to prevent the possibility of prisoners escaping through windows at the rear of the warehouse.
